A Case of Prune Belly Syndrome

Abstract

|
A case of Prune belly syndrome, which was observed in a 6-year-old male is presented.
Prune belly syndrome refers to the lax, wrinkled abdomen of abdominal muscle hypoplasia. The congenital anomaly complex in which absence of abdominal muscle is associated with urinary tract abnormalities and abdominal testes has been well known.
Its cause is a subject of debate. It is a complex anomaly which affects males in 95% of cases with great variation in extent and degree.
For the clinical evaluation of this case, ultrasonogram, computerized tomography and int-ravenous pyelography was performed and showed characteristic findings. He was given no specific surgical treatment and will be followed.
